Course Maps
Overview
The 2012 Metro Brokers TriathlON Friday course is entirely within Cherry Creek State Park with the start, finish, and transition areas located atop "Smoky Hill" on the east side of Cherry Creek Reservoir. The entire course is fairly flat with only a few small hills and less than a 2% change in elevation.
A full course map is shown here to the right (click to enlarge), detailed and interactive course maps are displayed below.

Transition Area (TA)
The transition area for 2012 has been relocated from past years into a larger space. As a result, the transition from swim to bike will pass the right side of the bathrooms and offer a smoother path. Timing mats are marked in pink and a barricade fence surrounds the entire TA.

Swim Course
The race begins with an 880 yard (1/2 mile) swim starting on a sandy beach and following a basic triangle. Swimmers will head south approximately 200 yards and make a right turn around the first buoy marker then proceed approximately 480 yards swimming parallel to the shoreline. A second buoy marks the final turn where it's approximately 200 yards to the beach. It's about a 365' run up to the transition area.

Bike Course
Racers exit the transition area and follow a course that leads south through Cherry Creek State Park then northwest before turning around just before the Dam Road. Racers continue on the east side of the reservoir heading north and turnaround at the northern tip of the reservoir where it's approximately two miles to the bike finish and transition area. The bike course takes place entirely inside Cherry Creek State Park. Park roads are open to traffic and most have a bike lane. Ride in the bike lane unless instructed by race staff or a police officer.

Run Course
The run course has changed for 2012 and we think you'll appreciate the difference! The run begins by exiting the transition area and heading north to circle the event site then it's an out and back course along the east side of the reservoir. The first turnaround is shortly after mile marker 1 where racers head back north. There's a short diversion up a mild hill before turning around and heading back the way you came for the final mile. The run course takes place on bike and run trails entirely inside Cherry Creek State Park. We have traffic marshals and signs at the two road crossings, but please pay attention to traffic. Your safety is ultimately your own responsibility.
